Valentines Day Blues?

Tips and tricks on how to get out of the funk and love yourself up!

With the day for lovers, Valentine’s Day, right around the corner, it can be depressing for single women out there. I personally can attest to feeling inadequate, lonely, sad and depressed all in one on Valentine’s day. It seems like you can’t help but feel jealous while you watch other women enjoy being showered and pampered on this day. I’m sick and tired of having Valentine's Day blues. Who said we can’t have a fruitful Valentine’s day without a significant other? I’m ready to change the narrative!  This year, we’re not feeling self-pity because of our singleness. This year, we’re making ourselves feel good and loving ourselves! Here are a few ways we can enjoy Valentine’s day by practicing self love and self care:

  1. Take yourself out to the Spa/Self Care Day

    Getting a fresh manicure and pedicure makes me feel elite, like Beyonce' status! Some great ways to enjoy self care on Valentine's day could include treating yourself to a massage, getting your nails or feet done, or even a wax! Showing love to ourselves through self care is essential in making sure we feel good

  2. Treat yourself to a nice meal

    Food is the key to my heart! I love enjoying a nice meal in the comfort of my own home, curled up watching my favorite Netflix show! This is the perfect way to spend the night in and enjoy yourself.

  3. Get dressed up and have a Galentine's Day!

    Your girlfriends are essential to your life. Go grab a cute cocktail dress and heels, do your hair and makeup and link up with your fellow baddies! Go out somewhere nice and enjoy each other's company! I promise it will make you feel good and appreciated!

  4. Spend the day grounding and affirming

    Affirmations are vital to our life as we need to feel confident and affirmed. Spend your day in the mirror thinking about things that you love about yourself. Write those things down to make it real. (I have my qualities and affirmations on sticky notes on my mirror.) Affirm that, say it to yourself at least 10 times to drill that into your mind! Remind yourself that this is what makes you unique and special. Ground yourself and center yourself around making yourself feel good and enjoying the awesome characteristics and qualities you hold. And of course after, treat yourself to your favorite dessert!
