Quarantine Log: Day who knows, time isn’t real anymore.
I don’t know if anyone else is feeling this right now, but I’m not going crazy? Like I keep seeing people on social media talking about how they’re going insane and having some “The Shining” moments, but I’m fine? I feel like I’m doing quarantine wrong. I’ve heard it’s because I don’t live at my mom’s house anymore so I don’t have her and my sisters to drive me crazy.
Either way, I’ve officially been home for 3 weeks and the most eventful thing I’ve done has been groceries (BECAUSE I’M STAYING HOME, LIKE YOU SHOULD BE). But in case you need some ideas of things to do that don’t include investing these stimulus checks, keep reading.
1. Playing Sims. Start a legacy family (or several one-off families) and play god in a universe where COVID doesn’t exist.
2. Play Pokémon. I just beat Pokémon Shield, regular game and post-game, in under 72 hours of playtime.
3. CoolMathGames still exists! I’ve made it my mission to beat Papa’s Freezeria now and you know the vibes. Can’t stop, won’t stop, baby.
4. LET THE CREATIVITY FLOW. FaceTime photoshoots. Pull a Kihmberlie and design, direct, and shoot yourself. Practice your beats (I will be taking this time to get the beat flawless). Sharpen the cut crease and wings. Ain’t no one seeing you, you can practice freely now.
5. Try a new hair look. No one’s looking at you, go crazy. If you don’t know how to braid, I learned (like a year ago) from YouTube videos and practicing on my friend’s hair. I can now do cornrows on other people’s head and my own and I can do knotless box braids on myself. (The beauty supply store is essential and it’s antiblack that I can’t give myself twists right now)
6. Bon Appetit videos are a major source of my joy right now. I won’t be surprised if my roommate bullies me into cooking something from one of these videos, but we don’t let men steal our joy.
7. Start a new series or binge an old one. I’m watching Sailor Moon Crystal and I’m convinced that I’ll rewatch Scandal at some point.
8. Contrary to the hyper fear, you can still go outside. Open your door, get some vitamin D, feel the rain on your skin. Go for a jog or a walk. Hot Girl Summer might be canceled but we can still feel the heat.
Take a break from the news. Take a break from classes. The world has been turned on its side and this is honestly the most important time to know when to walk away from stressors. Take this time to get some sleep and do what you want (but at home). Everyone needs to do their best to ease the burden on the healthcare system.
Stay home. Stay safe. Wash your hands. If you’re wearing gloves, still wash your hands. Sanitize your hands. Clean your phone. Just keep cleaning and social distance. Please be responsible and do your part.
