Happy Place

A happy place

That makes everything feel better

A feeling that is light and warm

A place where family joins

He runs after his children

Gives his partner a kiss on the cheek

The elders are sitting down listening to the waves crash

Young people dance to 90 jams

And I am fortunate to bear witness to it all

The big brother carries his brother in the water

A family camera captures their existence

A good game of volleyball begins

As the little brother sits on the boogie board hoping to catch a wave

And I am still only a witness

The football is in the air 

But the water is stronger than him and he fails to catch it 

Ladies talk in their bikinis as they tan 

Making sure to change the position of their chairs with the sun

Colorful sails take on the blue sky with white clouds that are rippling 

The water is cold at first, but then it’s almost as it’s not there

You find yourself relaxing

Muscles releasing and lungs breathing 

Time seems to move slower

And the wish to stay in the happy place begins

It’s now time  to leave

To leave a safe space

Where you step a little lighter

And laugh louder

Happiness can always be found here

Whether you are actively in action or simply bearing witness
