You told me to grow up

You looked me in the eyes,

and told me to grow up.

I grew up when you asked me to pay bills,

when you made me the middleman,

when you made me your therapist.

You always tell me to grow up,

but I grew up at 12.

You made me grow up

when I should have been worried about making friends,

about cute boys,

about having a hobby;

but I had more pressing responsibilities.

You made me grow up before I should have,

and now have the audacity to tell me to grow up?

I am grown.
