70 days

it’s the astounding way

you unearth me

from the look in your eyes,

just to ground me again

with the sweet, slow honey

of “I love you”

from your lips to mine.

you see, our evergreen love has roots,

long and deep in the soils of our past,

causing our souls to dance with each other,

almost timid…

yet familiar enough

to play the intimate game of “remember when,” with our bodies

and invoke the past lives we must have loved each other in.

because we find solace in our time, our moments.

using the rhythmic beat of our laughter,

we power the cascading waterfall of our deepest desires

and heal the sore wounds of our inner children

with a salve made of joy, intention, and abundance.

It is true, that you build mountains trying to force soil together

and I want oceans with you—

I want depth beyond perception

and waves driven by passion-

I want you.

so take your time

because slow and steady wins the race

and I intend on winning mine.
