Temple

It’s taken about 20 years to love this body;

This Temple.

Stretchmarks, scars and all.

Each mark is a hug from my ancestors

Holding me together after every fall.

Each scar is a reminder that

Every crack has a purpose,

~ to let in more light.

My body is a constant series of road maps

Looking for the treasure that is wholeness,

But wholeness is imperfect.

It is everything I am and everything I am no longer looking for.

It is not a destination nor a material object-

It is a state of being.

My imperfections are my battle scars.

They have held me on the front lines this far, asking for nothing in return.

It’s time I love you back.

It’s taken about 20 years to love this body.

Here’s to so many more of basking in its glory.
