searching for the answer

Authors Notes: This is a petrarchan sonnet, which is made of two stanzas, an octet and a sestet. The first four lines of the octet introduce the problem, and the next four lines further elaborate the problem. The sestet marks some form of resolution to the problem.

  • The rhyme scheme is ABBAABBA, CDDECE

  • In this poem, the narrator is working on overcoming self-loathing

the Worst of the worst—that’ll always be me.

i smile in hate, while blaming what’s sent.

the problem, I live, but i can’t prevent.

you think i kid; just wait, and you’ll see.

the tears, i lunge for, but they run and flee

my life is fine—but i feel discontent.

there's no reason for this, i’m Not worth the lament.

i search for the answers; “please stay,” i plea.

as much as i doubt it, the pain Will subside.

the Light perseveres, it will miss no one.

i can find the strength; i must no longer run.

Love awaits me; joy will abound.

i am not finished, can feel it inside.

do you hear that? no pain—the most Beautiful sound.
