Let It Go

This black hand.

Clenched so,

Veins fossilized the surface,

Knuckles rose mountain-high and

Blunt fingertips pierced the skin

Above pulsing, delicate blood.

Overflow trickled down the arm,

Collected at the crook,

And fell, gloriously, away.

Lower to the site,

Plunging into the water,

A hissing steam escaped.

The load relieved,

Unwound, unraveled, undone

Sediment fell from the core,

To the wayside and

Settled amidst the rock and bone.

This black hand.

My hand.

That crippled,

That hindered

That caused great injury.

Let it go.

Let it go.

Let.

It.

Go.
