by yet, another police officer.

Another black man,

but this man was different, closer to home -

someone I knew, knew him.

Someone I knew,

knew a man

who got shot,

not because he was violent or dangerous,

but because

dark skin and dreadlocks is “shady.”

tall and muscular is “dangerous.”

But really,

who was the violent one?

who was the dangerous one?

Someone I know,

is grieving for the loss of a loved one.

But all I did,

was

past

the injustice.

the tears.

the anger.

What could I possibly say,

when I couldn’t possibly understand?

when I couldn’t even imagine?
