Powerful Black Woman

Powerful Black Woman
I stand with pride
In the face of my enemy
As they push me
Aggravate me
Condescend me
I stand there
Peaceful
I will not prove them right

I stare white supremacy into their covered eyes
I hold my hands up out as they draw their weapons
To them, I am worth less than a gorilla
I am more dangerous than a white man that is armed

I stand there silent
My arms outstretched
The silence I evoke speaks a thousand words
This is for my brothers and sisters who perished at “innocent” hands
This is for the fathers who were murdered by people sent to protect us
I do this for you brethren

To society, you are nothing
But to me
Your beautiful black life matters
