We watched the sunset together because

We loved to watch the sky change before our eyes.

We sat there for God knows how long,

Yet, you only felt a single second pass.

You called the sun the “day star” and it was your favorite

Because it reminded you of life,

And how things ended and started over all the time.

You lived like life would never end.

Even when your time was handed to you

You lived an endless afternoon.

I watched you change before my eyes

Your sun set and I was too far away to see it.

I’m sick of losing people I love, so

I don’t watch sunsets anymore.

I just live in endless afternoons

And think of you.
