To be a black woman is to be an invisible woman
In a sea of white, to be black is to be unseen

To be a black woman is to be silent woman
In a sea of noise, to be black is to be unheard

To be a black woman is to illicit deafness
In a sea of speech, to be black is to lack vocals

To be a black woman is to not be a woman
In a sea of people, to be black is to be ______. 

Nothing. 

Yet to be black is to be formed
In a sea of formations, to be black is to be configured

To be a black woman is to be a fighting woman
In a sea of war, to be black is to be a battle 

To be a black woman is to be looked down on
In a sea of gazes, to be black is to shine regardless

To be a black woman is to be indestructible
In a sea of hate, to be black is to be loved regardless
