The Chronicles of a Foodie: Spring Break Edition by Savannah Fusaro
For my spring break I was extremely lucky to travel to the beautiful island of Barbados. Known to many as the island where Rihanna is from, great food also comes out of this lovely little place off the coast of South America. It will be almost as if you came with me and tasted Barbados for yourself…
BARBADOS
Restaurant: The Beach House
Menu Item: Coconut Shrimp
Savannah Says: “Superb! Absolutely delicious. Shrimp was seasoned well, perfectly crispy, and had just the right hint of coconut.”
Rating: 7/10 (Was amazing, but the high cost of $20 for only 5 pieces of shrimp was too overpriced.)
Restaurant: Oistin’s Fish Market
Menu Item: Seared Marlin with Macaroni pie, Fried Plantains, and Tossed Salad
Savannah Says: “Probably one of the most well seasoned fish I’ve eaten in my entire life. The Marlin had a meaty taste to it, very satisfying. The Macaroni pie, native to Barbados, was amazing as well! It tasted like a more savory macaroni and cheese. And of course the fried plantains were perfect, I mean c’mon, it’s a Caribbean favorite!”
Rating: 10/10
